Welcome
Thank you for considering Topaz Bathrooms for your bathroom renovation. We appreciate the opportunity to help you plan the project and understand that choosing the right company is an important decision.
This guide explains how our projects are managed and what you can expect throughout the process. Our aim is to make every project as straightforward, organised and stress-free as possible from initial enquiry through to completion.
Stage 1 - Survey and Estimate
During the survey stage, we review the room, discuss your requirements and prepare an initial estimate based on the information available at that point. This estimate is intended to give you a realistic project guide before the detailed design, product selection and final specification are carried out.
At this stage, changes can be discussed in general terms, such as layout preference, overall budget, style direction or whether the project scope needs to be adjusted. Detailed product pricing, product substitutions and final specification work are carried out during the design and product selection stage, after the booking and commitment deposit has been paid.
This approach allows us to keep the initial estimate stage fair and efficient, while ensuring that the detailed design work and product pricing are completed once the project has been booked.
Stage 2 - Booking Your Project
Booking & Commitment Deposit
To secure a fitting date within our installation diary, a labour deposit is required.
Once your deposit has been received, your fitting date will be confirmed, a deposit invoice will be issued, design work can commence, and product selection support will be provided.
As fitting dates are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, we recommend booking early where possible.
£500 per full bathroom or ensuite
Booking & commitment deposit
Payable when the quotation is accepted and an installation position is reserved in our diary.
The booking deposit and the bathroom design process serve different purposes. The deposit secures an agreed installation position and demonstrates the customer’s commitment to proceed. The design process is a separate, compulsory planning stage for full bathroom remodel projects and its cost forms part of the quoted installation labour.
What the booking deposit does
Reserves an agreed or provisional installation position in the Topaz Bathrooms diary.
Demonstrates the customer’s commitment to proceed with the project.
Allows Topaz Bathrooms to allocate installation time, planning time and business resources to the project.
Provides some protection where reserved diary time cannot be filled if the customer later cancels.
Is credited against the installation labour charges and is not an additional charge on top of the accepted project price.
What the deposit is not
The £500 deposit is not presented as a separate design fee.
Bathroom design, technical checking and project planning are included within the installation labour price. The deposit is principally a booking and commitment payment that enables Topaz Bathrooms to reserve diary space and begin allocating resources to the project.
When the deposit is payable
The £500 booking and commitment deposit becomes payable when the customer accepts the quotation and wishes Topaz Bathrooms to reserve an installation position. This deposit applies per full bathroom or ensuite project. The booking is confirmed in accordance with the quotation, contract and applicable cancellation terms.
Acceptance by payment of deposit
By paying the £500 booking and commitment deposit, the customer confirms that they wish Topaz Bathrooms to reserve installation time for the project and that they have read and agree to the quotation, Customer Project Guide, Terms and Conditions, cancellation terms, design process and payment terms. Please only make payment once you are happy to proceed on this basis. If you have any questions, please ask before paying the deposit.
For clarity, the deposit invoice should state: “£500 booking and commitment deposit — per full bathroom or ensuite project.”
If the project proceeds
The full deposit is credited against the installation labour charges. It does not increase the total accepted price.
If the customer cancels
If the customer cancels, any refund or deduction from the deposit will be handled in accordance with the signed contract, Topaz Bathrooms’ cancellation terms and the customer’s applicable statutory rights. The deposit should not be described as automatically non-refundable in every circumstance.
Customer acknowledgement
By paying the booking and commitment deposit, the customer confirms that they wish Topaz Bathrooms to reserve installation time for the project, that they accept the quotation and that they have read and agree to the Customer Project Guide, Terms and Conditions, cancellation terms, design process and payment terms. For full bathroom remodel and ensuite projects, the customer also understands that detailed product pricing, product substitutions and the final specification are completed during the design and product selection stage after the booking deposit has been paid.
Stage 3 - Design and Product Selection
This stage explains how the bathroom design and planning process works, why it is required for full bathroom remodel projects, and how revisions are managed before the final specification is agreed.
Compulsory technical planning for full bathroom remodel projects
Compulsory for full bathroom remodel projects
Topaz Bathrooms requires every full bathroom remodel project to complete the design and planning process before installation. This process is used to double-check that the proposed layout and selected products are suitable for the room and can be installed as intended.
The design process forms part of our professional installation service. Its cost is included within the quoted labour charges and is payable through the normal project payment schedule. It is not funded by, or described as, the booking and commitment deposit.
Why the design process is compulsory
A bathroom design is more than a visual image. We use it as a practical checking and verification stage before installation begins. It enables us to review:
· Room dimensions and the usable space available.
· Bath, shower, furniture, toilet and basin positioning.
· Clearances, door openings, access and everyday usability.
· Plumbing, drainage, electrical and ventilation considerations.
· Whether products are compatible with one another and suitable for the proposed location.
· Tile quantities, setting out and the effect of finishes on the completed room.
· Potential issues that could otherwise cause delays, changes or additional costs during installation.
What the design process includes
Measured survey
Room measurements and an assessment of the existing space and likely installation constraints.
Agreed brief and budget
A clear understanding of the required layout, style, priorities and realistic project budget.
Initial design
A professionally prepared layout based on the agreed brief.
Technical verification
Checks that the proposed layout and selected products are suitable for the room.
Two design revisions
Up to two further versions following clear, combined customer feedback.
Product specification and quotation
Suitable products and finishes are selected and priced for the agreed design.
Layout sign-off
The main layout is agreed before final product selection and detailed ordering are completed.
Design revisions
£150
Additional revision
The initial design and up to two revisions are included within the project design process. Each further requested revision is charged at £150.
What counts as a revision? A revision is a further version of the design following customer feedback. A substantially different layout, a change of design direction or a request to revisit a previously rejected option may count as a revision. Minor product substitutions that do not alter the agreed layout will normally be handled during product selection.
Frequently asked questions:
Why is the design process compulsory?
We use the design stage to confirm that the proposed layout and products are suitable for the room and can be installed correctly. It helps identify potential issues before installation begins.
Is there a separate £500 design fee?
No. The design and planning work forms part of the quoted installation labour. The separate £500 payment is the booking and commitment deposit, which applies per full bathroom or ensuite project and is credited against the labour charges.
How many revisions are included?
The initial design and up to two revisions are included. This is normally sufficient when the brief, budget and preferred direction have been agreed at the outset.
When does the £150 charge apply?
The charge applies after both included revisions have been used and a further version is requested. We will advise you before carrying out a chargeable revision.
Do small product changes count?
Minor substitutions that do not change the agreed layout will normally not count as a full revision. If products require the design or layout to be reworked, a revision may be used.
What if we change our minds completely?
A complete change of layout or design direction will normally count as a revision because a new version must be prepared and checked.
Can unused revisions be exchanged for a discount?
No. The two revisions are an allowance within the design process and have no separate cash value.
How can unnecessary revisions be avoided?
Agree the main requirements, preferred layout direction, style and realistic budget before design begins, then combine feedback into one clear list for each requested revision.
Customer acknowledgement
By proceeding with a full bathroom remodel, the customer understands that the design and planning process is compulsory, that the initial design and up to two revisions are included within the quoted labour, and that further revisions are charged at £150 each.
Stage 4 - Ordering Products and Materials
Once products have been selected and approved:
- Final product costs will be confirmed.
- Product payments will be arranged.
- Orders will be placed with suppliers.
- Delivery schedules will be monitored.
Before products are ordered, the customer will be asked to confirm the agreed design, specification and product choices. Once items have been ordered, changes may be limited by supplier availability, delivery timescales, restocking charges or whether goods have already been delivered.
Products supplied by Topaz Bathrooms are priced as part of a fully managed bathroom project. Online prices can vary and may reflect bulk buying, clearance stock, delivery exclusions or supplier-only offers. When products are supplied through us, the price also supports supplier handling, order checking, delivery coordination, aftercare and the time involved in managing any product issues during the project.
Ordering products early helps minimise delays caused by stock shortages and supplier lead times.
Stage 5 - Installation
During installation we aim to provide a well-managed and professional service from start to finish.
Our service includes:
- Project management throughout the installation
- Coordination of specialist trades where required
- Product and installation advice
- Ongoing customer communication
- Position confirmation for key fixtures
- Quality installation materials and methods
- Electrical certification where applicable
Every effort is made to complete works within the estimated programme while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.
Hidden Conditions
Whilst every effort is made during the survey process to identify potential issues, some problems only become visible once existing fittings have been removed.
Examples may include:
- Water damage
- Rotten flooring
- Damaged plaster
- Defective pipework
- Structural issues
- Unsafe electrical installations
Should any hidden issues arise, we will explain the situation, discuss the available options and agree the next steps before proceeding wherever possible. Any additional work or cost will be discussed with you before it is carried out.
Electrical Works
Where electrical works form part of the project, existing electrical installations may occasionally require upgrading to comply with current regulations. Such issues are not always visible during the initial survey.
If additional electrical works are required, we will discuss the requirements and associated costs before proceeding.
Tiling Information
We offer a wide range of tiles through our trusted suppliers and distributors. Supplier information is provided with your estimate documentation.
Tile quantities include an allowance for cuts and breakages. In some situations, room layout or tile design may require additional quantities beyond the standard allowance.
Please note that specialist layouts such as:
- Brick bond
- Feature panels
- Large format tiles
- Natural stone products
may require additional labour and installation time.
Payments During Installation
To help manage labour costs and project progress, we operate a staged payment system during installation.
Interim payments may be requested based on completed work and the overall project duration. Each staged payment request will relate to progress already made, and payment will not be requested for work that has not yet been carried out.
Completion & Handover
Upon completion of your bathroom project:
- The installation will be inspected.
- Any required certification will be provided.
- Care and maintenance advice will be discussed.
- Warranty information will be confirmed.
- Any final questions will be answered.
Our goal is to ensure you are completely satisfied with your new bathroom and the service provided by Topaz Bathrooms.
